Retaliation in The Workplace
Federal law protects employees from retaliation when employees complain either internally or
to an outdoor body about workplace discrimination or harassment. That's true even if the claim
turns out to be unfounded, as long as it was made in good faith. The main changes that have an
opposite effect on your employment are retaliatory. An employee can also get the knowledge
by attending retaliation in the workplace training.
Heat-related illnesses are cause for concern, and with summer almost here, it’s time for a
refresher on the best ways to beat the heat at work. Keep in mind that severe heat-related
illnesses like heat prostration can occur for several days after dehydration from exposure to
high temperatures. Symptoms of warmth stress can range from mild prickly heat or sunburn to
severe heat prostration and warmth stroke. For suspects of heat it needs to get medical aid,
move to an air-conditioned environment or at least a cool shaded area, loosen or remove
unnecessary clothing, drink plenty of cool water, fan and spray with cool water. Sometimes it’s
difficult to self-recognize heat stress, so it’s important to use a buddy system at work to keep an
eye on each other and spot potential heat stress symptoms.
Stay fit When possible, avoid working in hot areas and fully sun, take frequent breaks, use sun
block with a minimum of SPF 15 and re-apply every two hours and get it cover with full sleeves
shirt, hat with increase length, regular fluid intake, avoid drinking alcohol and use of excessive
caffeine, reduce activity when exposed to heat, use buddy system to watch for symptoms,
increase salt intake (if doctor approves). Employers can protect workers against heat with the
help of heat stress safety training. It trains workers for heat stress awareness and care.
