Having a sound knowledge in regards to understanding students and how they learn has helped Amy to develop her
own teaching pedagogy. Thus enabling her to cater for a wide variety of students under her care. Amy is aware of the
realistic expectation of offering differentiated learning for students of varied abilities and is working hard to build her
abilities in this key area. As a developing teacher Amy understands the importance of intellectually stretching students
to further challenge and engage them. The class has a complex array of learning/behavioural issues amongst the
students, Amy managed to cater for all students, regardless of individual levels. Amy’s ability to deal with students with
special needs is a real positive highlight.

Amy is very strong in her knowledge of the curriculum areas, especially numeracy, and was effective in teaching
student’s new concepts. When faced with content she was not fully comfortable with Amy went out of her way to make
sure she was familiar with the content prior to teaching, an essential realistic teaching skill to have.

Amy has shown that she is able to develop multiple units of work that are sequenced and follow a clear learning cycle
that is relevant to the students under her care. Amy, has set clear learning intentions, success criteria and managed to
support wave 1, 2 and 3 students to be successful.

Amy understand how to implement formative, diagnostic and summative assessment strategies to assess student
learning. Amy recognises the importance of diagnostic assessment in identifying misconceptions and how these results
are able to construct a better learning cycle which caters for the individual. Amy was proactive in developing tasks that
were a co-design between teacher and students, this allowed for greater student voice. By developing learning pieces
with students this allowed for a larger sense of ownership and individual student engagement.

Amy has worked hard to develop her behaviour management skills, using positive reinforcement and performance
priming over negative interactions. By placing high expectations and clear realistic boundaries Amy was able to
effectively manage the class. Amy focused on ‘fact based instructions’ to deal with mild-moderate behaviour, a very
effective respectful control method for Amy as a teacher.
