-DAMNATION-

Travis Wardrope, Harrison Andrews and Cameron

Occleston.
Story Synopsis.
Tasked with halting the production of
new cutting edge technology, that has
the potential to collapse life as we
know it. Spencer Hill and his team must
infiltrate and destroy a prototype
hidden within a secret enemy base-
placed in plain site.

Define DAMNATION.
damnation
[damˈneɪʃ(ə)n]
NOUN
1. condemnation to eternal punishment in hell.
"sins that risk eternal damnation"

DAMNATION is the word describing the eternal punishment to hell,

this is relevant to our film as it is believed that if this
technology is to get out into the hands of people crazed with a
lust for power. It could turn the planet into a global warzone. In
other words- hell on Earth.

SCENE BREAKDOWNS

4
The Red Room.
We open in a large room, it is worn down
and seemingly abandoned. It is lit with
red lights. Dead centre is our
protagonist (Spencer Hill), who is
chained to a chair. Within this scene we
are also introduced to our main
antagonist, who is interrogating him
violently.

LOCATION-

Abandoned Recycling Centre.

Old Chair.

Chains and Padlock.

7
Potential Issues.
Due to the location being abandoned,
there are many safety procedures we
will need to go over. The building is
not falling apart or has any structural
issues. It simply isn’t in use. However
there are issues like broken glass,
etc. That we will clean and organise
before the shoot.
8
Train Bridge Meetup.
After the protagonist is interrogated,
he then confesses everything the
antagonist wants to know. We show this
with a time jump back to where his
mission began. We see him waiting for
someone, who instructs him to find a
tunnel with an important map written
inside of it.

Coordinates written on a piece of paper.

11
Potential Issues.
Since the location is on a public path,
pedestrians could make filming an issue.
Whether that be groups sitting and playing
music or individuals getting in the way of
shots. A slight resolve to this is we will
film in the furthest away tunnel from the
path, and keep the cast and crew on a
minimum- to avoid attention.

12
Hidden Map Tunnel.
We then transition to the
protagonist crawling through a dark
and gloomy tunnel, he has a torch
and a UV light. After crawling for a
while, he discovers symbols that can
only be seen in UV. These then lead
him to a map drawn onto the walls.

LOCATION-

Flood defence pipe, near Stanwix Bypass.

Ultra Violet Pens.

Ultra Violet Torch.

16
Potential Issues.
This location is obviously tight and does
not offer much space for moving around. So
we will need to make sure our actor has no
issues with claustrophobia, or tight
spaces in general. Another issue is the
metal seal to enter the tunnel, to resolve
this, we will keep someone on the outside
to lift the seal when necessary.

17
Cargo Van and Mission Brief.
From the map, we transition to a van
driving out of a city into an
industrial site. We see inside the
van, where our Protagonist and two
others are loading guns. During this
sequence, we cut between the van and
a mission brief set between the UV
tunnel and now.

Seating.

20
Potential Issues.
The door on the particular shipping
container we will be using is not on the
hinge properly, thus making it easier for
it to be blown open by wind. Making it a
hazard. The floor is also quite uneven,
making potential trip hazards.

21
Warehouse.
The van pulls up at a warehouse and the group
are escorted deep within the building. They
enter the high security room housing the
prototype machine and open fire. Two of the
team end up in a gunfight whilst the other
attempts to hack the machine to destroy
itself. The machine activates a self-defence
protocole and electrocutes the team. This
segways back to the red room, where the
protagonist wakes up.

24
Potential Issues.
Depending on the location for the
warehouse we use, they will have
their own health and safety
regulations. We will follow these
accordingly.

25
Cut Back To Red Room.
We cut back to Spencer Hill finishing
his explanation to the antagonist.
During this, he frees himself from his
chains and there is a struggle with the
villian. The film ends with both
characters running to grab a gun. As we
cut away to a gunshot sound- where we
never find out who lost and who won.

26
AUDIO

27
Finding Music
Finding Music for any project can be difficult,
with issues surrounding copyright as well as
searching for the desired sound. There is always
the option of composing music of your own, like we
did for our Audio Drama, but this isn’t always
viable and depends heavily on the talent within
your group in this regard. We had discovered a
composer whose work we really enjoyed, and reached
out to them...

The Email We Sent

29
DISDAIN
Before returning to college, we created a short Fight Scene. This uses Lauren’s
music and achieves the same tone we want to replicate in this Film.

30
Sound Design In Disdain
For Disdain, we were presented with an unusual dilemma. Due to its
spontaneous nature, being planned, and filmed, in one afternoon, our entire
team weren’t available. With Cameron at work, we had no audio except from the
in-camera Microphone. This was far from ideal, and resulted in the decision
to create all the audio from scratch and ADR the entire film.

We returned to the location, with Cameron, and went through grabbing any
audio we would need. Because of this, some of the audio falls short and there
is a lack of ambience, resulting in some moments that don’t sound authentic.

It was an interesting experience, which taught us a lot about the importance

of audio and the challenges of ADR. This will help us plan better for this
project, in an attempt to avoid similar issues and improve the quality of our
Audio.

31
VISUAL EFFECTS

32
Sci-Fi Effects
Originally, we had planned to create a Sci-Fi film for this project. As a
result of this we experimented with different Visual Effects that we could
achieve. The plan was to compare editing softwares, (Final Cut Pro and Premier
Pro) however, we didn’t get round to this as we began to stray from the idea.

The Effects we have created

we’re all done in Final Cut
Pro. Although elements
still remain, we have
distanced ourselves from
the Sci-Fi genre.

LIGHTING

42
Falcon Eyes F7 Pocketlite
Recently, we purchased the F7
Pocketelite from Falcon Eyes. This is
something we had been contemplating for
a while as we knew it would help improve
the quality of our videos as well as
providing more options when it comes to
lighting.

One of the main features of the F7, is that

it has 20 preset “Scenes” that we have
showcased in the following video...

43
ACTING

44
Actors
There was a lot to consider when looking for Actors, especially
with the recently introduced “Rule of 6.”
We have decided that Harrison will play Spencer Hill, as this allows us
more space for others on set for any scenes that may require a larger
cast. He will also perform his other duties.

We have two other friends in mind for smaller parts, with the rest yet to
be decided.
