SUBJECT: Leroy Somer LL8200 alternator terminal box cover welds.

PROBLEM

Certain Leroy Somer LL8200 alternator terminal box covers may have insufficient stitch welds
between their underside and the quantity 2 cross beam stiffeners. This may cause the crossbeams
to become detached during the normal vibration of genset operation.

Figure 1 and 2 (below) show the stitch welds that should exist.

PROCEDURE

If not all of the stitch welds shown in Figures 1 & 2 exist these missing stitch welds must be added.
Apply a 2mm fillet weld where required.

Remove the paint in the area before applying weld. On completion of the welds, apply paint of the
required colour to prevent corrosion occurring.

AFFECTED UNITS / AFFECTED PART NUMBERS

All FG Wilson gensets with a Leroy Somer LL8200 alternator, manufactured between May 2007 and
July 2011.
