1300 Series 62 Issue 1
New Fractured Split Connecting Rod Bolts September 2008

This service bulletin applies to engine models WP, WR and WS from engine serial number 1514071.
Caution: Do not interchange the old fractured split connecting rods with the new fractured split connecting
rods. The old factured split connecting rods should be replaced as a set and the new factured split connecting
rods should be replaced as a set.
Due to Perkins continious product improvement program, a new and improved fractured split connecting rod
has been introduced. The new fractured split connecting rod (FG Wilson part number 10000-12890) replaces the
old fractured split connecting rod (FG Wilson part number 936-190). The new fractured split connecting rod
has M11 bolts. Ensure that the casting tag (A1) points towards the front of the engine. Refer to 1300 Series
Service Bulletin number 50 for the correct procedure to install the factured split connecting rods.

A W1400

Tighten the connecting rod bolts using the following procedure:


1 Tighten the connecting rod bolts to a torque of 41 Nm (30 lbf/ft) 4 kgf m.
2 Tighten the connecting rod bolts through an additional 90 degrees.
