Phaser/1000 Series 7
Failure of cylinder head gasket October 1989

There have been instances in service of failure of the cylinder head gasket. The failures could be due to not
fitting the cylinder head in accordance with the procedure in the Workshop Manual.
It is important that the 2 slave studs (A1) are fitted in their correct positions in the cylinder block.
Also when the gasket and the cylinder head are in position, some of the setscrews should be put in their correct
positions and tightened lightly.
The slave studs can then be removed and the remainder of the setscrews fitted in their correct positions.
All of the setscrews should then be tightened in accordance with the procedure in the Workshop Manual.
