All the HOD’s of concerned departments are requested to direct your Department Faculty to submit
“Soft Copy” of M.Tech Midterm-II Question papers on or before 13.03.2015 by 12.00 Noon.
Question Papers submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.

All 3 sets of question papers for each subject must be typed as per the format attached. All
equations must be typed in “Math type” software. All figures can be hand drawn neatly or scanned
in high resolution or drawn in MS word or power point. Chief Examiner must submit his/her copy to
the exam branch in person using a pen drive or CD.

All faculty are requested to strictly follow the question paper format.

M. Tech question paper setting instructions:

 Each set should contain six (6) Questions and each question may have sub questions i.e 1(a) and 1(b) with
breakup of marks.
 Ensure that minimum one question is set from each unit.
 Total time allotted to answer four (4) questions out of six (6) questions in 2 hours.
 Mention clearly on the top of the question paper manuscript if student requires any data, data books
etc, during examination.
 You are requested to set THREE sets of question papers for your respective subject to deliver them in
person to the Autonomous Examination Branch.
Note:
Please set the question papers within the prescribed syllabus of the subject. The pattern of question papers
should conform to that of the model question paper template enclosed above. The distribution of marks unit
wise should be the same as given in the model question paper template. Keep the stipulated time, for the
examination, in mind while setting the question papers. Write the questions legibly with clarity.

You are requested to send the question papers so as to reach this COE office on or before 13/03/2015 by 12.00
Noon.

General Instructions to the Question Paper Setter:

 Paper setter should design question paper such that the questions:

 Question should be set in such a way that it will test the skill of applying the knowledge acquired,
rather than testing the memory or merely book information.
 The question paper may contain questions based on testing knowledge, memory and skill and
thinking ability.
 are unambiguous.
 are asked for relevant marks.
 cover the prescribed syllabus for the course.

 The pattern of question papers should conform to that of the model template enclosed. The distribution
of marks unit wise should be the same as given in the model template. Keep the stipulated time, for the
examination, in mind while setting the question papers.

 Each question set must be mapped to the course and program outcomes on the right side of sub-
question or the question.

 The questions should be serially numbered and shall be numbered as 01, 02, 03, and 04 - - - .

 Sub-questions, if any, shall be numbered as a, b, c, d … etc.

 Marks shall be indicated on the right side of sub-question or the question.

 Diagrams or sketches, if any, should be drawn in black ink or with black ball pen and should be attached
separately (to the question paper) with question number mentioned below the sketch.

 For guidance of assessment of answer books, paper setters should prepare the scheme of
Evaluation/Solutions marking, giving distribution of marks for different points in the question.

 In case of numerical problems, solution of the problems with distribution of marks for different stages
should be given in scheme of marking.
