Team Bicyclean: Survey Results & Graphs

Reflection:

Our surveys pointed to the most important features of the bike being speed, security,
and cost. Speed is important because most people don’t enjoy longer rides in the morning or at
night. Security is important because the risk of a bike being stolen is much higher than a car,
especially in cities. With the extra investment upfront to buy the bike, people need to know that
they are going to have the bike for a long time. Cost is always a barrier to entry when it comes
to any new technology. With city goers focused on efficiency it can be hard for people to want to
invest thousands of dollars into something that is slower than a car. Our survey also showed
that people would not be interested in our idea for a navigation screen or tablet because it would
be distracting and unhelpful while riding. We also found out that the charge rate of the battery is
unimportant if it means lower battery capacity. Another point is that most people spend their
time on bikes on roads and learning to ride to and from the city wouldn’t be far off. The most
important takeaway from this survey is that people are actually very motivated to help reduce
C02 emissions and are willing to go out of their comfort zone for our product.
