1.1.

- We will design a Product layout: where equipment and work process are arranged according
to the progressive step by which the brick is made.
In terms of Time: an assembly line consists of a series of workstations, each with a uniform time
interval called cycle time (which is also the time between successive units coming off the end of
the line).

- Resources: Natural clay minerals, including kaolin and shale, make up the main body of
brick. Small amounts of manganese, barium, and other additives are blended with the clay
to produce different shades, and barium carbonate is used to improve brick's chemical
resistance to the elements. Many other additives have been used in brick, including
byproducts from papermaking, ammonium compounds, wetting agents, flocculent  (which
cause particles to form loose clusters) and deflocculents  (which disperse such clusters).
Some clays require the addition of sand or grog  (pre-ground, pre-fired material such as
scrap brick).
- Stock brick Specifications

- Productivity: we will have to determine the how many people will have to work in during the
production and how many hours per day and hoe many output per day

- 5 S implementation:
SORT: proper arrangement, remove from the workplace any item that is not needed from
the current production or the current day’s assignment.
STRAIGHTEN: Orderliness, arrange items so they are easy to use.
SWEEP: cleanliness, sweep the floors, wipe off equipment.
SCHEDULE: Cleaned up, standardize and maintain the use of sort, straighten, and sweep.
SUSTAIN: Discipline, practice and repeat these procedures until they become a way of life
throughout the entire business.

- Continuous improvement: This tool helps every associate in the factory to contribute
ideas and improvements on a regular basis. This is a culture that must be taught, but the
proper channels, rewards and the systems for harvesting this rich source of contributions
must be created in the organisation.

 These two tools are going to help a good production result, with a clean environment,
and a better contribution of each worker on a daily basis
