CHAPTER II
LABORATORY ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

The organizational structure of the MIPA laboratory is defined as an institutional

organization or material organization or MIPA laboratory content organization, not program
organization MIPA laboratory. Therefore, the organizational structure of the MIPA
laboratory can be described like the following chart.

Head of Laboratory,

Secretary and Treasurer of the

MIPA Lab

Head of Math Head of Biology Head of Physics Head of Chemistry

Note, however, that this 2 chart is extensible. Ka Lab can be divided into Head Section
(Kasi). For Mathematics to be Kasi Applied Mathematics and Pure Mathematics. For
Biology, it becomes Head of Plant Sciences, Animal Sciences, Human Sciences, and Living
environment. For Physics to be Kasi Pure Physics and Applied Physics. To Chemistry into
Kasi Pure Chemistry and Applied Chemistry. Do not rule out Kasi further broken down into
Kasubsi (head of sub-section). For example, for Pure Physics, there is Kasubsi Mechanics,
Heat and Thermodynamics, Geometric Optics, Physical Optics, Electricity and Magnetism,
and Atomic and Core Physics. For Applied Physics, for example: Kasubsi Physics of Solid
Substances, Electronics, Computational Physics, Optoelectronics, Colloid Physics, Nuclear
Physics, Geophysics, and Astronomy and Astrophysics. Thus the coverage of the contents of
the MIPA laboratory can be develop in accordance with the development of science and
technology. However, in my opinion, for school it is enough to stop at Kasi. In college, you
have to developed in accordance with the concentration of the field of science developed in
college these high. Regarding MIPA laboratory members in schools, teachers who are not
become Kalab or Kasi. So teachers from one other field of study are members MIPA
laboratory. The laboratory assistant can have other functions, namely: as general
administration staff and special. General administration as the holder of correspondence and
special administration take care of administration relating to laboratory activities, for
example: administration of laboratory equipment inventory and others.

CHAPTER IV
THE DUTIES AND FUNCTION OF EACH COMPONENT IN THE ORGANIZATIONAL
STRUCTURE

A. The main duties of the head of the laboratory:

 Coordinating and managing the laboratory.
 Compile / revise / update the SOP.
 Together with laboratory assistants, they provide services for the use of lab space and
borrow tools for research or experimental purposes.
 Arranging activities, coordinating and managing inventory and checking lab tools.
 Arrange activities (including scheduling) and coordinate practicum services.
 Print the budget for assistant, laboratory assistant, person in charge of practicum and
consumables costs at the end of each semester.
 Compile and submit laboratory activity reports to the Head of the Physics Department
every semester.

B. Main duties of the Laboratory Assistant:

 Together with Kalab manages the information system, database and lab
documentation.
 Together with Kalab, provide services for using lab space and borrowing alab tools
for research or experimental purposes.
 Inventory and check lab equipment. periodically.
 Perform lab equipment repairs (for tools that can be repaired by yourself in the lab).
 Helping Kalab to plan activities for practicum services.
 Prepare equipment and components that will be used for practicum.
 Tidy up and clean the tables that have been used for practicum activities.
 Document damage to tools, components (if any) after being used for practicum
activities.
 Standby in the laboratory during practicum activities to immediately respond /
respond to requests for assistants or practitioners related to practicum activities.
 Prepare a practicum scoring system to be used by assistants when the practicum starts.
 Check and print practicum scores.
 Perform printing of satisfied cards for practicum and assistant certificates.
 Print the budget for the assistant, laboratory assistant, person in charge of practicum
and the cost of consumables at the end of each semester.

C. Assistant Main Duty

 Provide breafing to the practitioner on / before the initial week of practicum.
 Sign the assistant attendance book.
 Check the completeness of the tools and materials that will be used for practicum
activities.
 Give direction of practicum that will be done.
 Doing a final check of the set of tools.
 Give practical value.
 Help the disabled pratice.
 Helping laboratory assistants return tools and materials to their original places.
 Enter grades into the grade program.
 Perform report check and give report value
CHAPTER V

BUILDING AND SPACE ARRANGEMENT SYSTEM

For spatial planning, it should be arranged in such a way that the laboratory can
function properly. The layout is perfect, from the moment the building planning begins. A
good layout (ideal conditions) of a laboratory must have:

a. Entrance (in)

b. Exit (out)

c. Emergency exit

d. The preparation room

e. Equipment room

f. Fume hood

g. Storage room / warehouse (storage-room)

h. Staff room (Staff-room)

i. Technician / laboratory assistant room

j. Work space (activity-room)

k. Rest / worship room

l. Cleanliness infrastructure

m. Safety equipment room

n. Cabinet practitioner (locker)

o. Cupboard (glass-room)

p. Opticals-room

q. Doors and windows with mass, so that insects and birds cannot enter

r. Fan / fan

s. Room air conditioner for certain appliances that require certain requirements.
