COURSE SYLLABUS IN FOUNDATIONS OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

COLLEGE OF EDUCATION (CED) MISSION

The Administration, Faculty, and Staff of the College of Education commit:


1. to gaining recognition as an excellent pre-service teacher-training institution;
2. to insuring a consistently higher than national average performance on the Licensure Examination for
Teachers (LET);
3. to providing students with effective and relevant instruction that will equip them with skills required of
educational institution here and abroad;

COLLEGE OF EDUCATION (CED) OBJECTIVES

The College of Education aims:


1. to provide effective and efficient instruction that will prepare CED students to becoming excellent teachers in
the basic education level;
2. to turn out graduates who are aware of and responsive to the demands of Philippine society and of the global
community;
3. to continuously work towards the betterment of the quality of life of the Filipinos by imparting practical
knowledge and modeling timeless virtues;
4. to encourage engagement in research that will improve quality of education in the country;
5. to participate and encourage involvement in extension activities that respond to the basic needs of the local
community and of the country.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES
The minimum standards for the Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd) program are expressed in the following
minimum set of learning outcomes:

Common to all programs in all types of schools


The graduates have the ability to:
a. articulates and discuss the latest developments in the specific field of practice. (Philippine Qualifications
Framework level 6 descriptor)
b. effectively communicates orally and in writing using both English and Filipino
c. work effectively and independently in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams. (PQF level 6 descriptor)
d. act in recognition of professional, social, and ethical responsibility
e. preserves and promote "Filipino historical and cultural heritage"
(based on RA 7722)

Common to the discipline (Teacher Education)


a. Articulate the rootedness of education in philosophical, sociocultural, historical, psychological, and political
contexts.
b. Demonstrate mastery of subject matter/discipline.
c. Facilitate 'earning using a wide range of teaching methodologies and delivery modes appropriate to
specific learners and their environments.
d. Develop innovative curricula, instructional plans, teaching approaches, and resources for diverse learners.
e. Apply skills in the development and utilization of ICT to promote quality, relevant, and sustainable
educational practices. I
f. Demonstrate a variety of thinking skills in planning, monitoring, assessing, and reporting learning
processes and outcomes.

Specific to a sub-discipline and a major (Physical Education)


a. POI - Disciplinal Knowledge: Apply scientific and evidence based practices critical to the educational and
learning processes.
b. P02 - Movement and Competency and Proficiency:
1. Demonstrate skillful performance in a variety of physical activities.
2. Adapt performance to variety of physical activity settings: (e.g. formal classes, recreational, and
competitive)
c. P03 - Curriculum and Program Planning, Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation:
1. Critically examine the curriculum (e.g. content, pedagogy and assessments) and program, and
enhance (e.g. innovate) them necessarily.
2. Plan and implement safe and effective physical activity programs to address the needs of
individual and groups in school and/or non-school settings.
3. Monitor and evaluate physical activity programs in school and/or non-school settings.
4. Use appropriate assessments in, as and for student or client learning.
5. Use information, media and technology in pedagogy and for lifelong learning.
d. P04 - Professional Accountability and Responsibility:

b. Graduates of colleges are qualified for various types of employment and participate in development
activities and public discourses, particularly in response to the needs of the communities they serve
c. Graduates of universities contribute to the generation of new knowledge by participating in various
research and development projects

Moreover, graduates of State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) must have the competencies to support "national,
regional and local development plans" (RA7722).

All private higher education institutions (PHEI), may adopt mission related program outcomes that are not included
in the minimum set of learning outcomes.

Physical Education Online Class Policy

1. Classroom routine (e.g. attendance and uniform checking, etc.)


2. Wear prescribe attire as required by the course.
3. A short warm up / stretching exercises must be done during synchronous
session.
4. Teachers and students are expected to be online 10 minutes before the start
of the class, so as to check and fix any technical issues that occur.
5. MS Teams is the official platform of PLM. All files, communications and
instructional materials must be done in MS teams. For synchronous session,
MS teams, zoom or Google meet can be used.
6. No unnecessary noise and disturbance during synchronous class.
CLASSROOM
POLICIES 7. Everyone will be muted during class. If anyone would like to ask or raise
some concerns, use the chat box or raise hand feature.
8. synchronous sessions will be recorded for possible review.
9. No part of the instructional videos can be shared or posted on social media
as this is the intellectual property rights. Since cyber libel is already in place,
caution should be observed with regard to materials shared and posted.
10. Every end of the synchronous session, students must wave or chat good
bye as part of online etiquette.
11. Be professional at all times. Online classes will be monitored by higher
administration.
12. Students with medical condition must inform their teacher ahead of time
(submit a medical certificate and doctor’s recommendations).
