Yes, motivation, self-awareness and self-regulation are competencies. Motivation can improve level of
efficiency, boost productivity and leads to achievement of desired goals. Self-awareness allows us to
have a better understanding in our ourselves. Through self-regulation, we can control our actions and
emotions on how we respond in a certain situation. It will help us to develop healthy relationship among

Leadership is all about directing and motivating a group of people in order to achieve the desired goals.
It involves providing guidance, inspiring and encouraging members to make progress and act in the right
way. Leaders build vision, set clear goals and directions.

Management is all about planning, organizing, leading, and controlling to reach the goals of an
organization effectively and efficiently. It also involves creating visions, organizing the flow of the
organization and controlling the employees.

3. Which of the two (leadership/management) would you prefer to develop? Why?

Between leadership and management, I would prefer to develop leadership because leaders has
followers. Members will do their job not only because they are obligated to do so instead they do their
part because they are influenced or inspired by the leader. Leadership is about helping ordinary people
get extraordinary results. It is about inspiring people to do things they never thought they could. True
leaders inspire loyalty, enthusiasm, and commitment and help remind everyone of the big picture and
challenge people to outdo themselves.
