Work Reflection
Why did I decide to do an internship at Triumph company?
I decided to do the internship here because I was interested in the beauty industry.
Also, I believed that an internship is the best opportunity for me to see if it is right for me
and provides a clearer direction as I decide what my major should be. I hope this will
solidify my passion for beauty and help me identify my strength.

Difficulties I faced
It was the first time I am in such an environment which I am not very familiar with
work-life issues. I found it difficult to ask questions for the fear of being judged. I don't
want to come off as annoying when I ask them too many questions.

How do I overcome difficulties?

I actually try not to interrupt them until I literally cannot make any forward progress
without their help. Also, I was being respectful to my supervisor’s time by keeping a list
of questions and asking them in batches. A lot of time I spent my time studying and
trying to figure things out by myself. It is important to learn from the mistakes which is a
natural process that will result in me getting better.

Another problem I faced

To be accurate and precise at work is a hard part for me. During the time I worked at
Triumph company, I realized that both of these skills have to be used for checking sales
invoices and sealing the package especially. For my first time using the packaging
sealing machine, I was anxious and afraid of doing it inaccurately and won't be able to
do it well enough. I was worried that if the packaging is not sealed properly when the
customers buy the product, it might reflect poorly on the company.

How do I overcome it?
Things didn't come out well at my first try but with the help of my supervisor, I found out
that the machine was used easier than I thought after I was using it for a few hours. All I
have to do is to put the product accurately on the slides of the machine and it can adjust
the speed level so it took only a few minutes to pack dozens of sachets with a good
quality. Now I felt incredibly confident on sealing the package and was able to achieve
the tasks timely by the end of the day without any problem.
What surprised me in this internship?
Doing things that I had never done before is scary for me. To my surprise, I was asked
to recheck all the errors and mistakes from the monthly sales invoices in 2019. Even
though I have told them previously about my chosen elective subject which is
marketing. However, I never had learned how to check it in the class before. This took
me three days to complete all of them and I didn’t find the errors from the invoice
anymore.
What do I get from this internship?
My internship at Triumph intergroup company has been such a growing experience for
me. I had to work closely with employees in the company and explore my interest in this
field. This experience has left me a lot with the skills that will be useful throughout my
future career. On my first day of internship, everyone gave me a very warm welcome
and that made me feel comfortable. I was able to observe the working environment in
real life with my eyes and work closely with employees in the company. One of my
favorite things that I have been able to do was working in the cosmetic lab which I've
always dreamed of. A majority of my internship truly took place in the lab. Almost every
single day brings something different whether that is sealing the package, sticking the
barcode, folding the packaging box or checking sales invoices. I was blessed to have
been offered the internship for my capstone project. When I first heard about the
internship, I wasn’t sure if I could do it since I was still in high school. I thoroughly
enjoyed doing the internship and it helped a lot in order to decide my future career as
well.
