Research title: Evaluation of Heat Load in Houses from Hura Homes in Quezon
City, Metro Manila, Philippines

ABSTRACT

The temperature rise in the Philippines is one of the major health issues that should be
taken measures of by citizens. Being exposed to extreme temperature environments can
cause heat-related illnesses such as heat stroke, heat cramps, and even death. A well-
designed HVAC system will prevent the said heat-related illnesses as well as provide air
quality of the building or infrastructure. The study aims to provide necessary information
to produce or create a well-designed HVAC system in Hura Homes, Quezon City as well
as create a safe and healthy HVAC system for its occupants that will provide them
thermal comfort as well as indoor air quality. To conduct this research, the researchers
must first evaluate the location of the room or the house to create a schematic design of
the said room. This will help make the heat gains be analyzed simply. The researchers
will then calculate the total heat load of the room which is needed to accomplish indoor
temperature at established levels and incorporate proper air-conditioning and ventilation.
Other heat gain sources namely occupancy heat gains, lighting heat gains, and solar heat
gains will be considered in the calculation.
