Week 6
Involvement
Activity 1. Analyze the VMGO of CPC. Analyze how the VMGO and your curriculum
(Education) were developed in order to enrich teaching practice.

CPC prepares highly qualified, caring, and effective educators to meet the needs of
students in diverse settings within the school and beyond. To enrich teaching practice, VMGO
and curriculum should embodies compassion, empathy and respect for what every individual
brings to the learning experience. That all students can learn and that students’ learning potential
is unknown and not pre-determined. The goal of the teacher is to develop students’ minds as
powerful thinkers and problem-solvers.

To actualize vision and mission, VMGO and curriculum should engage with the students:
 Truly listen to one another and see the world from different perspectives.
 Understand the relationship between students’ academic achievement and their
emotional well-being.
 Demonstrate dexterity in their use of curriculum theory, pedagogy, and
assessment practices.
 Critically analyze and thoughtfully engage in conversations around current
educational policies that impact teaching and learning.
 Develop professional dispositions that help them to recognize and utilize the
“funds of knowledge” of culturally and linguistically diverse families and
communities.
 Teach and lead in a wide range of settings.

Week 7

Involvement

Activity 1. One of the characteristics of a good curriculum is that it has administrative flexibility.
Relate this to the “new normal education” that we have now. Cite manifestation.

Teacher training is a major consideration that would require schools to readjust

their budget allocation in order to respond to this emerging need. Online teaching
involves a lot of preparation, and teachers now find themselves having to use tools they
are not familiar with. The advantages of online learning include flexibility and self-paced
learning, lower costs, improved virtual communication and collaboration, better time
management, refined critical thinking skills and new technical skills. Online teaching and
learning is going to be more regular and teachers must be prepared to teach online. It is
imperative for schools and universities to train teachers on how to teach online and to
encourage them to devote their time to teaching online. We will see more classes being
conducted through web video conferencing such as google meet, zoom meeting app or
using a learning management system (LMS), like Google Classroom, to enable students
to complete assignments, deliver presentations, take assessments and receive immediate
feedback from their teachers online. The biggest challenge for schools transitioning to
online learning is the widening inequality of access to and usage of information and
communications technology (ICT).

To bridge this digital divide, efforts must be devoted to developing long-distance

and offline multimedia teaching modes and learning systems that can allow users to
study courses using their personal computers, as well as allow faculty to track and record
their learning.

Week 8

Involvement.

Activity 1. Identify the learner’s needs and issued that should be considered in curriculum
development.

The learner’s needs and issued that should be considered in curriculum development are;

 their current physical, social, intellectual, and emotional development

 the classroom and school environment
 the special nature of their communities
 a wider knowledge about the health status, needs, and physical activity patterns of
learners

Identifies potential learning needs in four different domains: cognitive, social, affective, and
psychomotor. When facilitators establish a new learning environment, it is important that they
assess preparedness of participants in all four domains. Each learner is unique, and brings to the
learning situation his or her own different learning style, knowledge set, pool of past
experiences, and motivation.

Identifying and acknowledging learner needs is a powerful facilitation skill that can ally
instructors and students at the start of any learning journey.
