Task 5 - Short Essay
What is nonverbal communication? Nonverbal communication is a process of creating
importance using behavior rather than words. As shown in the picture, some persons are deaf or
a person who cannot speak and has developed to communicate using sign language or other
nonverbal methods of communication. Nonverbal communication cues are the process of
sending information through ways that do not entail the use of language. Nonverbal
communication cues include gestures, facial expressions, eye contact, etc. In simple words,
nonverbal communication cues include all the way we present and express ourselves, apart from
the actual words we speak. Nonverbal communication is a silent form of communicating with
other people and has a huge impact on our social environment. In reality, practically almost 60%
of communication between humans is nonverbal, and that it exists in our daily discussions. A
greater level of understanding of nonverbal communication leads people to have a better and
stronger relationship with others. Nonverbal communication cues affect how the receiver
understands what the sender is endeavoring to communicate, and the receiver's reaction
corresponds to how the sender conveyed the message.
