5. Show that the displacement field u 1=Ax1+3x2, u2=3x1-Bx2, u3=5 gives a state of
plane strain. Determine the relationship between A and B for which the
deformation is constant volume type

Determine principal strains and the principal deviatoric strains.

7. The Lagrangian description of deformation is expressed by

x1 =a1 + a3 (e2 – 1), x2 =a2 + a3 (e2 – e-2), x3 = e2a3

where e is a constant. Find the Eulerian form of description and determine the
displacement components.

8. Given that the motion is expressed in terms of xi and ai by

x1 = a1 ,
x2 = e t(a2 + a3)/2 + e-t(a2 – a3)/2
x3 = et(a2 + a3)/2 -- e-t(a2 – a3)/2
Determine (i) the displacement, and (ii) the velocity components in Lagrangian
and Eulerian forms.
