Formal Communication:
Communication that which takes place through the formal channels and
mostly it is written in nature .
This follows the hierarchy and structured established by the management .
Members of the enterprise are expected to communicate with one another
strictly as per channels laid down in the structure .
Informal Communication:
Communication arising out of all those arising communication that fall outside
formal structure.
It arises due to the personal needs of the members of an organization.
Informal communication is very spontaneous multidimensional and is of high
speed in nature.
It often works in clusters of people.
1) Very fast and suitable to places where formal communication can't be used.
2) It may help involving more people in decision making.
3) An opportunity to express fears, doubts and grievances.
Upward communication means the flow of information from the lower levels
of the organization to the higher levels of authority.
It includes opinions, ideas, suggestions, complaints, grievances, appeals,
reports, etc.
