LOCATION

NEIGHBOURHOOD CONTEXT
Existing and projected building uses in the neighbourhood

site

The site is located approximately

2.35km south from the Loughborough
town center, in the land of
Woodthorpe. The Strategic Housing
Land Availability Assessment 2010
stated that the area could contribute
to the sustainability of the village by
developing affordable housing despite
the fact that the area does not have a
good access to services and facilities
which are closer to the center of site
Loughborough. (Woodthorpe Wymeswold,
2010) The map on the right shows the

2
neighbourhood within a 1km radius. With around 300 properties shown in
the map, almost all of them are residential. Nearby services include couple
schools, a GP and a supermarket. (Ltd, 2020) The neighborhood attracts
young couples to raise their families therefore there are a relatively more
schools than other services nearby. With a growing population of the youth
we project that more land will be used for educational and commercial
purposes in the future. Current land developments in the area includes a
community center, Grange Park which is at the closing periods of
construction bringing a venue for sports clubs for children, business hub
and evening classes. (Grangeparkcentre.org.uk, 2020)
