0 LOCAL AUTHORITIES REQUIREMENTS / ACT / REGULATIONS

To start any building construction near with UiTM Seri Iskandar front lake, there are some of local authority requirement that need to be followed first. The nearest local authority that found at UiTM Seri Iskandar is
Perak Tengah District Council. This authority has supplied some requirements, act and regulation before constructing any building at their area.The requirements, act and regulation that been provided by Perak
Tengah District Council are:

1. Local Government Act 1976 (Act 171)

2. Town and Rural Planning Act 1976 (Act 172)
3. Road, Drainage and Building Act 1974 (Act 133)
4. Persons with Disabilities Act 2008 (Act 685)

7.1 Local Government Act 1976 (Act 171)

1. Public Authorities Protection Act 1948

The Public Authorities Protection Act 1948 [Act 198], shall apply to any action, suit, prosecution or proceeding against any local authority or against any Councillor, officer, employee, servant or agent
of any local authority in respect of any act, neglect or default done or committed

7.2 Town and Rural Planning Act 1976 (Act 172)

1. Town and country planning activities positioned as a joint responsibility of the Federal Government and the State Government. This is contained in Article 74 and 77 of the Concurrent List of the
Federal Constitution. This means that both the Federal and State Governments jointly responsible towards the direction of ensuring the preservation, development and use of land and buildings in an
organized and safe for the people.
2. Initially it was introduced, the Town and Country Planning Act 1976 (Act 172) enacted pursuant to Article 76 (4) of the Constitution for the purpose of ensuring uniformity of law and policy and
regulation is perfect for city and country planning in the areas of local authorities in the States in Peninsular Malaysia
3. Act 172 gets the pleasure of the King on March 16, 1976 and enacted on March 25, 1976. However, pursuant to section 1 (2) of the Act states epoch application can only be made on a date fixed by
the State Authority in respect of the consent of the Minister. Here means the Cabinet Minister in charge of the affairs of the town and country planning.

7.3 Road, Drainage and Building Act 1974 (Act 133)

1. This Act aims to provide a uniform system in local authority areas of Malaysia and sets out rules to regulate the activities relating to street, drainage and building in those areas.
2. In terms of street, the Act covers maintenance, repair, extension and widening of streets. The streets could be made by either local authorities or private persons with permission from local authorities.
The Act also sets out rules on trees, lamps, water pipes and other infrastructures which built under/alongside the streets. Further, the Act stipulates that local authority is under the obligation to
construct and maintain drains and watercourses, as well as back-lanes.
3. Furthermore, the Act prescribes rules on building activities in Part V, which including but not limited to reviewing safety and stability of erection of building, demolition of unauthorized building, penalty
for letting out and sale of unauthorized building, etc.
7.4 Persons with Disabilities Act 2008 (Act 685)
1. Access to public facilities, amenities, services and buildings.Persons with disabilities shall have the right to access to and use of, public facilities, amenities, services and buildings open or provided to
the public on equal basis with persons without disabilities, but subject to the existence or emergence of such situations that may endanger the safety of persons with disabilities.
2. For the purposes of subsection, the Government and the providers of such public facilities, amenities, services and buildings shall give appropriate consideration and take necessary measures to
ensure that such public facilities, amenities, services and buildings and the improvement of the equipment related thereto conform to universal design in order to facilitate their access and use by
persons with disabilities.
