If I’ll be given a chance to move in another country, that I love the most is Korea, it is really
convenient to stay. Especially for their punctuality regarding almost everything.
Buses, subway, train and airplane. They handle everything very fast. Of course, this information
is from my uncle who is a worker in korea and also I always watched vlogs about korea and I’ve
always wanted to visit Korea for many reasons. Among them, Korea has so much beautiful
countryside like mountains, rivers, islands, oceans. Their mountains aren’t super high but they
are nice and steep and fun to climb. They have lots of rivers and streams and big cool rocks to
climb over. There are a ton of islands with cool rocks and beautiful vistas. There are rivers in
most of the cities and all the rivers have nice big areas next to them where you can hang out or
walk and bike and exercise. Beyond the nature, Korea is rich in culture and history and their
cultural sites and museums are very inexpensive to visit and in a lot of cases free. There are
Buddhist temples in all the mountains and some amazing old Buddhas’ carved into rocks along
with the temples. Seoul and Busan are vibrant and exciting with lively music and art scenes and
a great blend of very old and very new. All the cities have interesting events and fun things to
see. There is a lot of good traditional food, but there are usually places to get American style or
European style food as well. There is a really good transportation system so between buses,
trains, and subways you can get almost everywhere and if you don’t want to fend for yourself
there are some very good tour guides as well. I have seen so many shows that highlight the
great places to go and the yummy things to eat in Korea like the famous samgyupsal and also
some good Korean dishes.

Koreans had their land distributed to the farmers hundreds and hundreds of years ago. They
grew to be an industrialized country without being subjugated by foreigners. Their religion reflect
on their economic belief and their culture grew along with an amazing love for their country.
Their education system is created to make Korea what it is today. In contrast, the Philippines
only got their freedom for about 50 years. We have a bastardized culture. We are conflicted
about our history. Our lands are owned by big landlords and the Roman Catholic Church. Our
education was made to serve the requirements of the industrialized United States. We don’t
have our own industries. The ones in our Industrial Parks are sweatshops owned by foreigners.
And farming gets almost no support from our government.

Let me enumerate the differences between south korea and my beautiful country Philippines;

 Wearing shoes or outdoor slippers inside the house. It is generally accepted in the
Philippines to go inside a house with shoes that you’ve been wearing outside. Not in
Korea. This is definitely considered unhygienic and rude. Nearly all houses have a
designated area by the main door where you can leave your footwear and change to the
provided indoor slippers
 Korea has a very solid drinking culture with its own rules and norms. One of the strictest
of these rules is “when you get invited to go drinking, especially by your bosses or
seniors, you cannot refuse.” Turning down their invitation is like to rejecting their
company. (Not applicable in Philippines)
 Unlike in the Philippines or in other places in the world where you could pay your bill at
the table, one has to pay at the counter on the way out of the restaurant.
 Unlike in the Philippines, Koreans do not have a tradition of inviting people over to their
homes to have dinner or even just hang out, and it has nothing to do with the size of
their houses.
 If you ever get into a relationship with a Korean, please do not expect him/her to
introduce you to his parents like what we do here in the country. Not even when you’ve

been together for years. Most people introduce their partners to their parents just before
they get married and the question right away is “when is the wedding?”

In a nutshell, they’re both an awesome country for me but if I’ll be given a chance to move in
other country it will be south korea because It is a Beautiful country, full of history, beautiful
nature, good food, and people extremely sympathetic But in my knowledge Korea is a society
still based on tradition.
