HIMIG NG PAG-IBIG

The song version of Himig ng Pagibig that I have chosen as the superior is the original

version by the Asin band, among the other versions that you have provided. The reason

is that firstly there is something that I have felt regarding the original version that I did not

feel towards the other versions. What did I feel? It is the nostalgic vibes that naturally

resonate with me, the moment it started to play, from its seconds to minutes. In which it

makes me want to go back to my good old times as a kid. For instance, I do play around

with other kids in our neighborhood. It is games such as mataya-taya, patintero, luksong

tinik, luksong baka, and touch kampi. Those are the times where I am still carefree with

what I do in life since I do not know much of what the world waits for me. The second

reason that I have is that the artist Asin has a unique voice quality, which is easy for the

listeners to recognize it and soothes their minds. Then, the audio of the music is raw, in

which it makes me as a listener to form a realization within myself. What realization that I

have made within myself is that it is okay to accept the flaws that I have as it is also a part

of me to be whole.

On the other hand, the reason/s why I did not choose the versions of Yeng

Constantino, Shanne Dandan, and Wency Cornejo is because their version/s diminishes

the soul and essence of the song. Why is that? On my observation, as I have listened to

the song, they are so focused on creating their own spices of the song to make it sound

aesthetical, in which for me as listener shift my focus unconsciously on the quality of the

new blending of the song piece instead of giving attention to the actual meaning of the

song.
