0.1 PHILOSOPHY

The Centre promotes personal empowerment for detainees so that they adopt a positive
attitude to life for:

 Achieving and mastering a Drug Free Life style


 Engaging in a socially constructive and responsible behaviour

0.2 MISSION

 To provide a Residential Care Program based upon a psychosocial approach.


 To promote physical, emotional and behavioural change.
 To enhance effective social integration of the inmates.

THERAPEUTIC COMMUNITY MODEL

RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM: [SIX MONTHS]

The Therapeutic program consists of three different phases namely:

(a) Phase I : Initiation / Adaptation


(b) Phase II : Self awareness
(c) Phase III : Social integration and resettlement

(a) Phase I: Initiation (Two Months)

The Initiation phase is an adaptation phase.

Contents of the Initiation Phase

 Motivation

 Physical Exercise/Football

 Seminars

 Occupational Therapy

 Philosophy

 Personal hygiene

 Therapeutic games

(b) Phase II : Self-awareness (Two Months)

This is an important phase where the detainee has been integrated in the programme actively.
Emphasis is laid essentially on capacity and character building, human values, psychosocial
support, self-esteem and behavioural change through seminars, group therapy and
psychological counselling.

Contents of the Self-awareness Phase

 Self-development

 Therapeutic Community group

 Human values / positive Thinking

 Seminars

 Cognitive therapy/ Psychotherapy

 Behavioural change

 Yoga / Meditation

 Counselling and follow-up

(c) PHASE III: Social re-integration (Two Months)

This is a crucial and decisive phase where the inmate is asked to work on his own personal
achievements and his future project (Projet de vie). Emphasis is laid most particularly on
relapse prevention and stress/anger management.

 Relapse Prevention Program

 Stress and Anger management

 Yoga

 Projet de Vie

 Culture and values

 Family and social re-integration

Projet de vie

The term “Projet de vie” constitutes an overall evaluation of the client and it includes also
aspects of social integration: family life, occupation, social environment.
