Read carefully the following case study and answer the question below.
Five workers, John, Jason, Jordan, Jeffrey and Jack employed by JR company sustained
injuries when they were on duty in the workshop of the company. The workers were
required to perform maintenance work on an overhead crane which was at a height of
around 6 meters from the ground. It was first time that the employees were undertaking
such work. They were standing on a wooden platform raised by a forklift to be able to
reach the overhead crane. The dimension of the platform was 1.45x1.89x1.18 meters. A
plywood was placed on top of the platform but was not fixed to it. While the workers were
standing on the platform, the plywood on top of the platform overturned suddenly and the
workers fell on the ground. They were conveyed to a clinic for treatment where they were
admitted and discharged after 24 hours. Enquiry revealed that:
(1) They were not provided with safety belt to perform the work.

(2) No supervision was exercised on such work being given that this work is not being
performed on a regular basis.

(3) No risk assessment was carried out by the company to assess the dangers of
performing such work at a height and apprising the workers about the dangers.
