LOGISTICS AND DISTRIBUTION

INTRODUCTION

The significant increase in international trade makes it essential that both countries and different
production companies are highly trained to send and receive all kinds of products, to understand
what this topic is about. Let's start with the definition of two fundamental terms throughout this
process.

International Logistics which refers to all movement and storage that facilitates the flow of
products and information from the point of sale to the point of purchase, that is, from when it is
manufactured to where the buyer purchases it.

International physical distribution what is the result of the logistics process to place the product on
the international market, taking into account the mode of transport and the negotiation terms
agreed between the seller and the buyer.

With the good use of international physical distribution, and with good logistics, times will be
reduced, costs and risks will be reduced in the merchandise's journey.
International logistics is very complex in territories and roads in poor condition, they make the
journey of goods slow and costly, making it a disadvantage. In this fundamental issue, three vital
aspects are taken into account: insurance, freight and the mode of transport.

Insurance: it is a price that is paid on the merchandise in case some type of damage occurs while it
is being transported.

Freight: money that is paid to a carrier so that the merchandise is taken from one place to another
Mode of transport: it indicates air, sea or land.

To regulate who bears the costs of freight, insurance and the choice of the mode of transport,
universal negotiation terms called INCOTERM are used. These terms were created for negotiations
between buyers and sellers from different countries. The need to create these universal terms
arose due to the cultural differences and thus create only a common language and negotiation,
eliminating language barriers.

The main purpose of logistics would be to determine and optimally coordinate the correct
product, the correct customer, the correct time and the correct place by doing everything
properly, achieving multiple benefits such as cost reduction and the main thing a satisfied
customer; It should be noted that when choosing the mode of transport we must first analyze the
type of product to be transported, also see what its nature is and what the optimal packaging
should be that we must use to provide the best protection and that the merchandise reaches its
destination without any deterioration.

International physical distribution helps us to carry out good international purchasing and sales
processes and allows us to move goods efficiently so that we can have quality products at a low
cost and in the shortest possible time.

The evolution of international markets requires companies to adapt logistics processes according
to the changes that this evolution proposes; as more and more companies are competing
worldwide for lower costs, efficiency and marketing, among others.
CONCLUSION

In conclusion, giving good use to international logistics allows us to reduce costs, time and be
more efficient in the international arena, international physical distribution helps us to choose in
an appropriate way how to transport the merchandise because of the means and what type of
incoterm to use already Because globalization is opening the doors of the different world
economies, this is why international logistics and physical distribution play a fundamental role
when it comes to being internationally competitive.
