- Gustavo: good morning my name is Gustavo Suarez and they are my classmates

- Leidy : Leidy Vanessa Sáenz López

- Camilo: Juan Camilo Repizo.

- Gustavo: we are public accounting students, level 1, at the CORPORACIÓN

UNIVERSITARIA MINUTO DE DIOS, we are going to talk about “hydroelectric
Hidrotorare environmental problem” it has the objective to sensibilize the people
about the Ambiental and social risks of building a Project in the watershed of the
river Totare.
We want to show the consequences of building a hydroelectric Project that will
affect several towns of North of Tolima as Venadillo, Anzoátegui, Santa Isabel, and
Alvarado.
The principal problem is the damage that it could cause that mentioned building to
the crops, impacting their communities and their lifestyle.

This Project wants to provide electrical fluid to the mining and oil companies
generating environmental risks.
 Leidy: Hidrototare Project aims to build a hydroelectric in the watershed of the
totare river, the community wishes to sensibilize to the owners of the Project about
the irreversible damages that it could make, for their part the managers of the
Project have ignored the public opinion who are afraid about water availability,
there are possible future damages with this Project like the water pollution of the
river Totare which is used for drinking and cultivating, affecting people in their
health and economy.

- Camilo: the residents of the municipalities of Venadillo, Santa Isabel and

Anzoátegui are very worried about the possible irreversible damages that it could
cause the Project if this is carried out, apparently the direct area of influence is
the Totare River which provides water to drink and cultivating to the people of
those municipalities, punctually in Venadillo.

- Leidy: is very important to keep in mind that the direct area of influence is formed
by 40 ravines that hold 83 sources of water. These sources are used for the locals for
drinking and making their production processes. Such as Brown sugar cane, coffee,
avocado, cattle raising, farming, etc.

- Camilo: one of the most important problems is the felling trees that hurts the
normal course of the watershed that in turn does the water come faster to its
principal flowing, causing floods.
Additionally, the water wouldn´t be disposable in dry seasons, on the other hand, it
would increase evaporation, the trees make an effect called “umbrella effect”
creating humidity avoiding the sunlight come to the ground. another problem
would be the erosion that would cause landslides.

- Gustavo: finally, we wish that the owners and managers of the Project to think
about the damage that they could cause with that Project, lost of the Woods, the
animals would lose their natural habitats, lost of biodiversity and the negative
impacts over water contaminated for human use.
