From 1969 to March 1996, Marcopper Mining Corp. extracted copper from Marinduque Island.

In a

deserted Tapian pit, the company dumped its mining garments. The box collapsed and caused one of
the

biggest mining catastrophes. The release of toxic waste from mine led the people of Marinduque,
especially

those living along the Boac River, to environmental problems and health concerns. Luring profit in every

copper that they dug without criticizing every element of people's lives and the environment. It is
unhappy to

know this circumstance and its rationale was to assist the boosting of the dead economy in this certain

municipality. Resources prevail the depletion in every year that alerts the disaster. Money is involved all
along

with it, they didn't seize this opportunity without revenue. This situation is a public health and
environmental

concern in which the general public is still the underdog. After decades the case was not yet clear, nor
did it

give priority to how such an incident should be avoided in the future. When we see other people in pain,
we

become more human, and our love for nature grows stronger. That a business should not disregard the
well-

being of the community in which it operates, and that factors such as environmental concern and

sustainability should be considered in addition to profit. We will undoubtedly return to nature in the
final

moment ecosystem in which we live provides natural services for humans and all other species that are

critical to our wellness, the standard of living, and ability to survive. This case, I assume, is a wake-up call
to

our government to enact strict laws governing the exploitation of our natural resources. That
accountable

mining can arise; that we owe it to future generations to make our world a better. We must understand
that

nature is not ours to own, but rather to care for everyone to benefit.
