Nowadays people value money and property more than other important things such as

relationships and experiences.

To what extent do you agree or disagree?

It has been said that people are putting the possessions above other life aspects such as
their relationships and experiences. Although it may be true for some people, I still think that
there are a lot more people believe the value coming from their connection with others and their
experiences is much more vital.
There are some reasons why people put possessions above other things in life. First, they
want to make up for the loss they have to suffer in their childhood. This is because if they live in
a poor and severe condition in their childhood when financial problem is usually considered
essential and serious, there may be a greater chance for them to grow up more self-indulgent.
This behavior is the result of their own experience, which may affect their perspective in life. In
addition, covering several day-to-day expenses such as food or accommodation is usually not an
easy task for most lower-class people. Indeed, it may be too expensive and overwhelmed, which
often results in a great burden that these people have to bear. Such problems, in turns, bring them
no time to care for other aspects in life. Clearly, property and money are what matters to them
most.
For other people, however, the value gained from relationships or experiences is second
to none. Admittedly, building relationships can seem costly and time-consuming. This may be
true at first. Nevertheless, close friends can be unconditionally supportive when people are
having hard times in life, and this cannot be bought by any money. Moreover, the wisdom gained
from both positive and negative experiences are long-lasting and rewarding, which is what
property cannot usually offer. Thanks to this wisdom, the finance is no longer an issue because,
to them, doing the job in a wise and experienced way is one of the best approaches to earn
money. Thus, there are definite rewards when people take these life aspects into consideration.
To sum up, while there are some who worship the materialism due to their own reasons, I
still think that what people can receive from other life aspects is a lot more and irreplaceable.
