TOOLBOX TALKS
1. Only use tool / equipment if you are trained and authorised to use the tool / equipment.
Always avoid bringing the ladder into contact with electricity.
2. Place ladder so that its feet are a quarter of its length to the top support from the object it is resting against.
Unless the ladder is securely tied at the top it should always be held in position by another person whilst in use.
3. Wherever possible it should extend 1m above its support.
Ladders must be inspected before use and on a monthly basis. Defective ladders should be repaired or replaced.
4. Always keep ladders clean.
Do not use ladders as horizontal walkways, or as scaffolding.
5. Never leave a ladder where it may fall.
Ladders should be equipped with safety feet.
6. A ladder should always be stored lying on its side.
Only one person should use ladder at a time.
7. Don’t leave tools or equipment on top of a ladder. They may fall and injure a fellow employee.
Use correct type of ladder for the job.
8. Never take chances and report faulty tools to your supervisor.
