UPDATE FROM ARGENTINA - The condition of EXTREME DROUGHT that has prevailed for months in the entire central
region of Argentina. In general - the entire peanut sector of Argentina - is waiting for more general and abundant rainfall, to start or
continue planting in a more vertiginous way, since the most convenient period to carry out this task is going by. One official
reports the area had some scattered showers this week and some chance of additional showers the weekend. Some areas remain
dry without any rains while others got 1 inch helps to start planting.
AMERICAN PEANUT COUNCIL WINTER CONFERENCE - Registration is now open for the 2020 APC Virtual Winter
Conference to be held December 9-10,2020. The registration rate is $50. Don't miss this excellent opportunity to get up to date on
the latest news and information in the peanut industry!
The Peanut Research Foundation Project Review is scheduled for December 7th. There is no fee for attending the project
review, but you must register on the Peanut Research Foundation website, so we may send you the meeting link when it becomes
available. If you are only attending the project review, it is not necessary to register for the Winter Conference.
PEANUT STANDARDS BOARD ANNOUNCED - USDA on Thursday announced the appointment of three producers and three
industry representatives to serve on the Peanut Standards Board.
The following will serve the remainder of the three-year terms beginning immediately and ending June 30, 2023:
Southeast Region (Alabama, Georgia and Florida)
Martin L. McLendon, Georgia (Producer)
Elizabeth Kaye Smith, Georgia (Industry representative)
Southwest Region (Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico)
Leslie D. Crall, Oklahoma (Producer)
John Edward Bennett, Texas (Industry representative)
Virginia/Carolina Region
Rachael Elizabeth Sharp, South Carolina (Producer)
Michael Dennis Jackson, North Carolina (Industry representative)
The 18-member board was authorized under the Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002. One-third of the board members
