Pollution and Damages

Sulfur dioxide

Skin contact
Breathing SO2 stinging pain, redness of the
Irritation to the nose skin and blisters
High level of SO2
and throat
could give the
adverse health effects
to a person
who be exposed

in the Cell?
Eye contact
Watering and in severe cases
blindness can occur

SO2 is colorless gas with an irritating pungent odor

It is a common air pollutant from the burning of coal and oil
Pollution and Damages
Sulfur dioxide in a cell

DNA damage DNA damage

Chromosomal aberrations
ATPase inactivation Sister chromatid exchange &
micronuclei
Oxidative damages
Pollution and Damages

Ozone

The first target of Ozone in the skin

Superficial epidermal layer, Stratum corneum
The depletion of anti-oxidants such as
Vitamin E and Vitamin C in the stratum
corneum AGING
The next target of Ozone in the skin
Induction of Redox Sensitive Transcription Factors
Induction of Heat Shock Proptein(HSP) and Inflammatory Makers
Induction of Matrix Metalloproteinase(MMPs)

Ozone is an inorganic molecule with the chemical formula O3 and a pale blue gas with a distinctively pungent smell
It is a powerful oxidant and causes to damage mucous and respiratory tissues
Ozone can induce the skin aging like as ROS
Pollution and Damages

Airborne particles
Particulate matter
Hypothesis
Long-term exposure to air pollution might lead to
extrinsic skin aging through oxidative stress
generated by the particles themselves or by
associated PAHs(Polycyclic Aromatic
Hydrocarbons)

PAHs induce melancyte proliferation and thereby skin

pigmentation
PAHs are converted into quinones, redox-
cycling chemicals that produce ROS
Long term-exposed skin to PAHs either
through hair follicle or transepidermal absortion
may lead to oxidative stress and skin aging
PAHs can lead to acneform eruption

Extrinsic Aging
Pollution and Damages

Soot aerosol Pigmentation & aging

Smoke of Cigarette
Transepidermal water loss
Degeneration of connective tissue
Increase of matrix metalloproteases(MMP-1, MMP-3)
Deeper periorbital wrinkling
Orange-purple skin discoloration
Psoriasis
Disturbing balance of oxidant and
anti-oxidants by ROS
Acnes

Extrinsic Aging

Cigarette smoke is a highly complex aerosol composed of thousands of chemical substances,

including ROS, RNS and electrophilic aldehydes.
Pollution and Damages

Nitrogen dioxide
Nitrogen dioxide is a gas of reddish-brown
color with a distinct sharp and biting odor
Combustion of fossil fuels produces
both NO2 and NO

NO2 and NO can destroy

organic matter, ex. human tissue
and lead aging
Pollution and Damages

UV radiation
UVBis largely absorbed by epidermal cellular components.
UVA can penetrates deeply into the basal layer of the epidermis and dermal fibroblast.
Cutaneous immunosuppression and skin cancers

Photoaging:
extringic aging

BIO-Placenta Pseudo-Placenta with synergic effects and safety

Contains five different growth factors (EGF, IGF-1, acidic FGF, basic FGF and VEGF), amino
acid and vitamin. These growth factors are safely synthesized.

Why Placenta?

Commonly known effects of

dermatological efficacy of the placenta
are Anti-aging & Skin rejuvenation More than 18 years old
GF production and the
growth process
decreases rapidly.
Minimal amount is
produced for
0~3 years old metabolism.
Infants produce
nutritional values
and GF on their own.
GF decrease and
absent of cell
replacement leads to
aging.
10~13 years old
GF production
decreases in body
and growth rate
Fetus starts to slow down.
Fetus obtains all the
nutrients and GF
made by placenta.

Aging is caused by loss of

GF will stimulate the
expansion of cells in
the body system.

Function of Essential factors

Vitamin
B9-Vitapol

• The formation of B9-Vitapol is made through structural changes of folic acid into the
natural form of polyglutamate.
• It is produced to improve the negative characteristics (pH sensitivity and low solubility)
of folic acid through Korean traditional fermentation technology.
