I want to tell you about obstacles to effective delegation connected with

managers
The first obstacle is known as the “I can do it better myself” fallacy. It lies in the
fact that manager tends to think that others just cant do the task effectively as he
can do it. At the same time we need to realize that manager in most processes
should be involved only in the management activities, he requires most of his time
for that. It would be better if the manager concentrates on planning and supervision
while subordinate would focus on his/her tasks but the task will be performed less
than perfectly.
Secondly, this fallacy prevents subordinates from developing their skills, from
making attempts to do the tasks properly. By insisting on doing things themselves,
managers may fail to meet their responsibility for training and grooming
subordinates for promotion to management.
The second obstacle lies in fact that some managers become so involved in daily
operations that they don’t pay much attention to the whole picture. The inability to
make a forecast of workflow for the future negatively affects managers activity in
the way that they don’t realize how important it is to distribute work among
subordinates.
The third obstacle is simple. The manager doubts about subordinates activity and
consequently subordinate starts to think in the same way. They will quicky become
dismotivative and feel a need to ask frequently if they are doing things correctly.
The fourth obstacle is connected with aversion to risk. The managers are
responsible for subordinate’s work and they may fear that the delegating the job
will cause some problems they finally must answer for.
The fifth obstacle is connected with absence of effective control in case when
manager delegates added authority to his subordinates.Organization must create
effective controls to supply feedback on subordinates' results. Feedback is really
important thing because thanks to it the path how to attain the goal becomes more
understandable and it helps to eliminate arising problems at the initial stage.
Now it will be some points concerning obstacles to Effective Delegation from
subordinate’s point of view.
1. It more easy for subordinate to ask for solution of the problem rather than do
the job himself.
2. The subordinate is afraid of making mistakes and he/she don’t just want to
be responsible for important job.
3. The third point is simple and it lies in the fact that subordinate can’t perform
the job successfully due to lack of information.
4. The subordinate is sure that he/she already has more work than he/she can
do
5.The subordinate lacks self-confidence.
6. The subordinate is dismotivated and don’t want to assume added responsibility.
