REFLECTION ON THE MOVIE “THE HUNGER GAMES”

Having read all of the books in the trilogy before the movie was released has already
given me ideas on how the movie would go on. It was just disappointing how they cut
many important parts in the book and not put it in the movie. As what the people know,
The Hunger Games series depicts a problematic government of a nation being rebelled
upon by the citizens.

The Hunger Games is a nationally televised event in the nation of Panem where the
12 districts in the state sends a teenage boy and girl to fight other tributes from the
different districts, wherein only one winner will be acknowledged. Before the “games”
begin, each district must do a reaping in order to know who their tributes are. In District
12’s reaping event, Primrose Everdeen gets “reaped” or chosen as tribute of the said
district for the Hunger Games. But her older sister Katniss Everdeen, the protagonist of
the movie series, volunteers in behalf of Prim’s case. Katniss is joined by another tribute
from District 12 which is Peeta Mellark.

This scene is significant because it shows how Katniss loves her family, especially
her sister, that she chose to volunteer for and even if it meant sacrificing herself in the
games.
