THE PROBLEM
§ Computers is an addon subject but not an integral part of core school curriculum

§ Computer learning in schools is restricted to learning of software

tools mainly MS office tools

§ Under-resourced schools have inadequate access and awareness about

affordable computer education
OUR SOLUTION
BINARY STORY works with under-resourced schools and non-profits on a three-year
program for children between 12-15 years to:

§ Develop computational thinking and problem-solving capacities in children

§ Introduce programming and physical computing in under-resourced schools as a

required addition to computer subject

§ Equip children and schools with affordable computer systems to enable tinkering and
experimentation
OUR IMPLEMENTATION
BINARY STORY program is delivered through a layered intervention
§ Infrastructure: We set up Gyanada Labs with 10 Raspberry Pi System and one
Electronic kit in every partnering schools. This provides a space to students to tinker,
experiment, explore and learn

§ Content: Our content is curated and contextualized to create interest and engage students
to interact with technology as a creator and learner

§ Training: Our Binary Story- Fellowship and Teacher training program builds the
capacities of young engineering students, young professionals and schoolteachers to
engage with the content and children

§ Exposure: Our children attend and participate in Hackathons and visit incubation centers
twice a year as part of the program

HOW WE MEASURE
There are nine units in the program. Each unit is divided into three levels, expect the
introduction. We do assessments on completion of every unit, in addition to a base-
line, mid-line and end-line assessment
