Motivation letter

This letter represents formal requirements of passing assistant practice and

my personal motivation as well.
Speaking about formal requirements of passing assistant practice is
important to outline the major points that should be taken into account: I am the
student of the second year of studying of Master’s degree program ‘Philology’.
Due to the fact that the university has modified schedule of studying, I have to
pass this practice until the end of the semester (in fact it should be done before
the students go to winter session). There are three leading objectives of this
practice in general:
1. Familiarization with the work of the department.
In fact, it means getting acquainted with the main areas of the department's
activities; the forms of students’ teaching; the curriculum; the literature, with
which the specialists of the department work.
2. Passive assistant practice
It provides attending several practical lessons of the teacher of the department,
familiarization with the methods of communication between the teacher and the
students, as well as the methods of teaching and learning the educational material.
3. Active assistant practice
It has an aim to hold a practical lesson according to the curriculum using the
knowledge gained in the process of passive practice and own methodology. The
lesson is conducted in agreement with the teacher and if it is considered as
necessary.
The practice at the Department of Foreign Languages at the Faculty of
Law is part of the entire practice. In addition, I go through the practice at the
Institute of Philology and have the head of practice, who will evaluate my work.
Thus, the Department of Foreign Languages of the Faculty of Law is kindly asked
to give the characterictics of my work or recommendations afterwards, which
the head will necessarily take into account.
*Since the passive practice at the Institute of Philology has already been
passed by me, it was determined to hold a practical lesson among philologists of
the Bachelor’s degree; active practice among the students of Master’s degree
would be useful and preferable for the professional growth and variety of teaching
skills if the chairman of the Department of Foreign Languages finds this possible
and efficient. This request concerns only active practice; regarding the passive
practice, it would be very useful to attend practical lesson of both bachelor's
program, as well as a master's degree.
Outlining my personal motivation, I can say that I am attracted by the
profession of teacher, and especially the teacher of legal English. I have heard a
lot of good words about the teachers of the Department of Foreign Languages,
about the high estimation of their work among the students and it would be the
honour for me to practice in your subdivision. I am currently enrolled in the
Master’s degree program ‘Law’ as well and simultaneously study two specialties
in order to as much as possible substantively talk with students about legal
English, understand the processes and legal terms and effectively implement this
knowledge in the practice of teaching. I understand the importance of proper time
allocation based on the fact that I study at two faculties right away and work as
well, so I do find this practice important to me. I will try to do everything possible
from me to meet expectations and to show a good level of preparation and
readiness to teach as well as to study because it is always bilateral process.

Yours sincerely,

Alyona Stulina
