Subcontract:
It is a process of hiring a sub contractor or outsourcing a specialised work for
instance H.V.A.C, Roofing, tiling, Concreting.
In construction industry majority of work being done by subcontractor because
they have experience and skill to complete the work efficiently and effectively.
Material contract:
A Material contract is an agreement with special terms and conditions between owner
and contractor in which there is a promise to perform some work wherein all materials

Purchase order

It is a document that require in construction, sent from a buyer to supplier. When

a purchase order is accepted, a legal contract forms between the two parties and
sets basic terms between the parties – like price, payment terms, and time for the
performance.
Few things that needs to be considered:

 Detail Description of the materials

 Quantity
 Price
 Payment terms
 Shipment method/dates
 Order reference number
What is Quality Plan, Quality Assurance, Quality Audit and Quality Control?
It is significant for any construction project to utilise resources such as Money ,
Manpower Machine or Equipment and Materials effectively and efficiently ,will
result into higher productivity, improve performance and customer satisfaction.
Quality management
It is a process to ensure that all the activities require to design, develop and
implement a service are effective and efficient in terms of its performance.
Quality management plan consist of four components:
1.Quality planning
It is the process of identifying quality standards are relevant to the project and
determining how to satisfy them.
This will include following:
1. Input
• Quality Improvement
• Quality Policy
• Project Description
• Standard Regulation
2. Tools and Techniques
• Benefit/Cost Analysis
• Benchmarking
• Flowcharting
3. Outputs
• Quality Management Plan
• Operational Definitions
• Checklist
2. Quality assurance
It is planned and systematic processes that provide confidence in project whether
it is suitable or not for its intended purpose. It is a list of activities intended to
ensure that all services satisfy customer requirements in a systematic, reliable
manner.
 Identify objectives and standards
 Be multifunctional and prevention oriented
 Plan for collection and use data in a cycle of continuous improvement
 Plan for the establishment of and maintenance of performance measure
3.Quality audit
Quality audit depends on the size of the project.
For example for a small construction project, a senior manager is responsible for
quality audit whereas for the large infrastructure project a special quality control
team require to perform quality audit.
Quality audit requires following checklist:
 A project Startup meeting was conducted to communicate project goals
and objectives.
 Evaluate Employee qualifications based on identified requirements
including licensing requirements, training qualifications, responsibilities,
and authority for each job position.
 Outside organizations qualifications were verified based on licensing
requirements, compliance with specific quality standards, quality
responsibilities, qualification of personnel and quality improvement
processes.
 Specifications for materials that meet contract as well as regulatory
requirements are available on jobsite.
 Inspection and testing of samples require to check in laboratories that are
certified by nationally recognized accreditation agencies.
 All materials needs to be inspected before use.
4.Quality control
In engineering and manufacturing, quality control is involved in developing
systems to ensure that the all services are generally designed and produced to
meet customer expectation. These systems are often developed in conjunction
with other business and engineering disciplines using a cross-functional approach.
This will include the following:
 Visitors and purpose
 Activities completed
 Meeting held and decision made
 Improvement ideas
 Weather condition
 Problem encounters and delays
