The part that I have chosen for this simulated teaching earlier in task 3 is pre-lesson and
pre-writing in lesson development. It is done in team of three including me myself, everyone
done their job greatly. There are several interesting strengths that I done in this simulated
teaching task that I would like to share, also the weaknesses and ways to improve it.

First, I would like to share my weaknesses of the process of preparing and delivering the
simulated teaching. My personal time management for the video shooting of the simulated
teaching is not good enough as I might not do the best preparation to create a quality video
presentation. There is no full subtitle prepared for the video. My pronunciation and slang in the
simulated teaching also sounds local and might not clearly pronounced that might not easily
understandable by students that is not local. My grammar and language use also not fully
correct that might be misleading the students. For example, I use local slang such as “lah, bah,
kan”. I also did targeting several students verbally in simulated teaching that might bring anxiety
or disgrace them. The varieties of festivals in Malaysia introduced in the lesson also should be
more because festivals such as “Hari Kaamatan” and “Hari Gawai” that is significant in Borneo
Malaysia didn’t been introduced.

Other than weaknesses, I would like to talk about the strengths of this simulated
teaching too. The set induction and lesson delivery’s content is good and suitable to attract
students to learn the target content which is identifying festivals of Malaysia. The two-way
communication in teaching and learning process also funny and interactive that make students
feel more comfortable to interact with. Teacher talks to the class comfortably and asked their
experience of festivals from the students to retrieve their prior knowledge. The teaching aids
used which is slides and music also great to create visual and auditory suitable moods for the
content in the teaching and learning environment. The activities also contain and promote moral
values such as teamwork, leadership and kindness.

Lastly, I would like to suggest some ways to improve the process of this simulated
teaching. I should manage my time better to have more time in preparing the video by practicing
my slang and grammar use to ensure it is easily understandable and clear for everyone. Subtitle
also can be provided in the video of simulated teaching to make it easier to evaluate in case my
voice sounds unclear in the video. The varieties of festivals in Malaysia introduced in the lesson
also can be added such as “Tadau Ka’amatan Harvest Festival” and “Hari Gawai” that is
significant in Borneo Malaysia also others like “Mooncake Festival”, “Thaipusam” and “Wesak
Day”.
