SCHOOL HISTORY

SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHRISTIAN HOPE ACADEMY (formerly SDA


Christian Hope School) was established through the action of the members of the board of the
Maramag Central SDA Church dated October 20, 1994-Church Board Resolution No. 04,
series of 1994. The school acquired its legal personality in the name SDA Christian Hope
School Inc. last July 12, 1996, with SEC Registration No. H199600081 through the
Securities and Exchange Commission, Cagayan de Oro Extension Office, Cagayan de Oro
City. The incorporators were the following: Eliezer Ramonal, Sr., Jimenez Balansag,
Anecito S. Romano, Elmer Rosa, Evelyn Rosa, Marie Fe Panuncio, Dominador Alferez,
Jr., Villamor Acosta, Joel Ramonal, Sr., Luz Macalam, Mitchele Pacaldo Rebecca
Ramonal, Uldarico Panuncio Cristina Endaya , Lily Dumalagan.

The school has started its first primary school offering in School Year 1996-1997.
School Year 1997-1998 was the start of its elementary school operation through school board
resolution dated July 13, 1996-Resolution No.2 series of 1996. It was under the
administration of the late Rebecca Ramonal as principal, with her father Mr. Eliezer Ramonal
as school board chairman. The School Board members were the following: Eliezer Ramonal,
Sr., Michelle Pacaldo, Christine Cagoco, Luz Macalam, Rebecca Ramonal, Joel
Ramonal, Sr., Villamor Acosta, Dominador Alferez, Jr.

By God’s grace and through the able leadership of Mr. Eliezer Ramonal Sr. the school
was able to avail government recognition within two years of operation.

In School Year 2005-2006, a corporate dispute happened. The Department of


Education Regional Office 10 through Mrs. Gloria Abrea and the Education Department of
North-Central Mindanao Conference (NCMC) Formerly Northern Mindanao Conference
(NMC) through Education Superintendent Dr. Diosdado T. Catalan interceded and turned
over the school operations to the church, with the condition that the church should register
another name for the school. Consequently thereafter the school was registered under the
name Maramag Adventist Elementary School with SEC registration No. CN200527122 dated
May 18, 2005. The incorporators were the following: Anecito S. Romano, James S. Hora,
Evelyn R. Rosa, Christine C. Guisando, Arlene G. Igot. The School Board members in
School Year 2005-2006 were the following: Jayrick J. Igot – Chairman, Elizabeth R.
Tuñacao-Vice Chairman, Letecia C. Silva-Secretary, Christine C. Guisando-Treasurer,
Fe G. Romano-Auditor, Nemia G. Pitogo-Principal/Ex-officio Member.

But when the papers under the name Maramag Adventist Elementary School were
submitted to the Division office of DepEd Bukidnon, The papers were returned without
action, hence the name SDA Christian Hope School was the recognized name of the school.
So the administration decided to use back the name SDA Christian Hope School.

Due to the corporate dispute, the church leadership decided to stop the operation after
the close of School Year 2005-2006.

One year after, the dispute was amicably settled through God’s divine intervention.
Consequently thereafter, the church decided to reopen the school operations, now under the
close supervision of the Northern Mindanao Conference as experimental NMC accredited
school. It was in the School Year 2007-2008 with Mr. Melchesedec Arangco as principal.
The School Board members were the following: Anecito S. Romano- Chairman,
Ronilo Baang -Vice Chairman, Melchesedec Arangco-Secretary, Evelyn Relente-
Treasurer, Gino Rosales-Home and School Ass. President, Renny Santuyo-Member,
Elizabeth Tuñacao-Member, Manuel Munasque-Member, Divina Abriol- Member,
Susan Munasque-Member, Pastor Peter Dumpasan- District Leader/Member.

In School Year 2009-2010, the operation went smoothly though there was still
financial constraint. Mr. Melchesedec Arangco was replaced by Mr. Jonathan Banate as
principal.The School Board Chairman was Anecito S. Romano and the treasurer were
Elizabeth Tuñacao. It was during this time when the church and the school building were
razed by fire last December 7, 2009.

In School Year 2009-2010, Mr. Jonathan Banate was transferred to Camiguin, and
Mr. Alexander Ando replaced him as principal. The chairman was Anecito Romano and the
treasurer was Elizabeth Tuñacao.

In School Year 2010-2011 Mr. Ando was replaced by Mr. Caleb Cañada. The
chairman was Mr. Ronilo Baang, the treasurer was Mrs. Fe G. Romano.

In School Year 2011-2012, Mr. Caleb was still the principal, the chairman was still
Mr. Ronilo Baang but consequently replaced by Mrs. Ma. Rose Anelyn B. Rulida due to the
resignation of the latter, and the treasurer was Mrs. Fe Romano. It was in this School Year
when the school acquired new SEC registration under the name Seventh-day Adventist
Christian Hope Academy or SDA Christian Hope Academy.

In School Year 2012-2013, Mr. Caleb Cañada was replaced by his wife Dr. Uzel
Cañada as principal, the chairperson was Mrs. Ma. Rose Anelyn B. Rulida and the treasurer
was Mrs. Christine C. Guisando.

In School Year 2013-2014, Dr. Uzel Cañada was still the principal, the chairman was
Mr. Anecito Romano and the treasurer was Mrs. Christine C. Guisando.

In School Year 2014-2015, Dr. Uzel Cañada was still the principal and Ma. Rose
Anelyn B. Rulida was the chairperson and Mrs. Naomie T. Reyes was the treasurer.

In School Year 2015-2016, Dr. Uzel Cañada was replaced by Dr. Charlie Mae
Tubera. The chairperson was Mrs. Ma. Rose Anelyn B. Rulida and the treasurer was still
Mrs. Naomie Reyes.

In School Year 2016-2017 Dr. Charlie Mae Tubera was replaced by Mr. Benedict E.
Malaguit, the chairperson was Dr. Josephine Loja-Ararao and the treasurer was Mrs. Beatriz
P. Sarcauga.

In School Year 2017-2018, Mr. Malaguit was still the principal, the chairperson was
still Dr. Josephine Loja-Ararao but consequently replaced by Mr. Mibsam L.Ocdao due to the
resignation of the later, and the treasurer was still Mrs. Beatriz P. Sarcauga.

In School Year 2018-2019 up to the present, Mr. Malaguit was still the principal, the
chairperson was Mrs. Cherry M. Bolay-og, CPA, and the treasurer was still Mrs. Beatriz P.
Sarcauga.
