hile we all eventually come to realise that
our teachers are our friends, it often takes
small incidents to open up doors and
strengthen the bond. Teachers narrate some inci-
dents that have helped bring them closer to their
dear students.
NO SHAME IN MISTAKES
 The pandemic saw the birth of online teaching! I
was traumatised handling new devices and even
more petrified scheduling a meeting or preparing
study material. I found myself sorely out of sorts!
During an English class for seventh graders, I
once forgot to click the 'Only Me' option for presen-
ters. Of what ensued, little could be left to imagina-
tion. The moment I would start speaking, someone
would mute me. I somehow manage to unmute and
start all over again, another would remove me from
the meeting! This went on for long and I finally gave
up. The children had a fun day seeing their other-
wise composed teacher fretting and fuming. As days
passed, I found many of my 'quiet' ones shying away
from speaking. They feared being ridiculed! I then
unabashedly recall the terrible goof up I had made.
My children now understand that there is no shame
in mistakes. I feel that with the months the bond be-
tween us has strengthened too!
