LITERATURE REVIEW OF NETFLIX

Literature review:
A study on factors affecting subscription rates of Netflix in India:
Online Streaming is becoming more and more popular every day. It makes access to digital
content, whether it be videos or audio, much faster and easier. While streaming content, the
user is not required to download that content but can watch it online. What the user requires is
a good Internet Connection and a good service provider. This is where Netflix comes in. Netflix
is among various service providers that provide access to unlimited content for a fixed monthly
fee.
Netflix was launched in India on January 6th, 2016. Initially, it saw a lot of excitement from the
people. Many people signed up to try this much awaited service. But as the months passed or
as and when the free trial ended, people unsubscribed from the service. The monthly fee starts
at ₹500 and goes up to ₹800 with a four-screen login option. The subscription rate is well below
their expectation.

Through the literature survey, they have identified various factors affecting low subscription
rates of Netflix in India. After that they have identified the factors necessary to take into
consideration.

RESEARCH DESIGN

A Research Design provides a scientist, or a researcher with a well-structured, objective plan of

study that enables him or her to efficiently assess causes and effect relationships between
various dependent and independent variables.

Descriptive research design:

Descriptive research is a type of research that describes a population, situation, or

phenomenon that is being studied. It focuses on answering the how, what, when, and
where questions If a research problem, rather than the why.

This is mainly because it is important to have a proper understanding of what a research

problem is about before investigating why it exists in the first place.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Research methodology is the specific procedures or techniques used to identify, select, process,
and analyze information about a topic.

DATA COLLECTION METHOD:

There are many different options in terms of how you go about collecting data for your study.
From all these methods we have collected data through online surveys by preparing a
questionnaire, which is quantitative data collection methods.

SAMPLING TECHNIQUES

Non-Probability Sampling Methods

Convenience sampling:
Convenience sampling is perhaps the easiest method of sampling, because participants are
selected based on availability and willingness to take part. Useful results can be obtained, but
the results are prone to significant bias, because those who volunteer to take part may be
different from those who choose not to (volunteer bias), and the sample may not be
representative of other characteristics, such as age or sex. Note: volunteer bias is a risk of all
non-probability sampling methods.
