General Requirements L._Allexchangers shall comply with TEMA Class R, APT 660, ASME Boller and Pressure Vessel Code Section ‘VI11 Division 1, and be aultable for an ASME Code stamping when required. 2 All pressure containing components shall also comply with applicable UOP Standard Specifications for Pressure Vessols (3-11 Carbon Steel, 9-12 Alloy Steel, 3-19 High Nickel Nonferrous Alloy, 3-14 Low Nickel Alloy Steel, 3-15 Austenitic Stoel, or 3-17 ASME Soetion VIII Division 2). 8, ‘Flange classes specified are in accordance with ASME B16.6. Vents, Drains, and Other Connections 1. When tube side fluid is steam or condensing hydrocarbon, a 9/4 inch minimum vent connection shall be provided in the channel cover or bonnet head at the high point of second pass. 2. When the shell side fluid is steam or condensing hydrocarbon, provide a flanged 1 inch minimum vent nozzle on the top of shell at the end opposite to shell inlet. For stacked units, provide a vent nozzle in each shell. 3, Provide 1-12 inch minimum flanged neutralizing connections in all main shell and tube side nozzles of exchangers constructed of, or lined with, austenitic stainless steel material, a II MATERIALS AA Tubes 1. ‘Tube gauge specified in the UOP Project Specifications is for minimum tube wall thickness, 2. For U-tubes the wall thickness specified applies to the bending. All U-tubes shall be formed from a continuous length of tubing, free of girth welds. ‘The minimum mean radius of U-bends shall be 1-1/2 times the OD of the tube. ‘All nonferrous U-bends shall be stress relief annealed after bending. ‘All tubes shall be in the fully heat treated condition as received from the mill. Heat treatment may be annealed, normalized, or normalized and tempered per the ASTM Specification used, 6, Welded austenitic stainless steel tubes shall be cold drawn to a minimum reduction of 15% in wall thickness prior to a final full solution anneal. Selective cold reduction of the weld bead is an acceptable alternative, 1. Welded tubing shall pass the nondestructive eddy current test set forth in ASTM A-450. B. Kettle Reboilers - General L._ Shell shall be TEMA Type "K" with weir plate directly behind tube bundle, Weir shall be welded to shell, contain no drain holes and have sufficient height to flood top tubes with a minimum of 2 inches (50 millimeters) of process fluid for normal operation. 4 2. Provide riding rails, o tracks, that are flly seal welded to shell sides to support and guide the ‘tube bundle. 3, General arrangement and connections shall be as shown in Figure 1. A B.
