1. Competition

When I was in school, I vowed to beat Dwayne in the 6th-grade end term exams. I worked

hard reading day and night and carrying out research and true to my words; I defeated

him with a margin of over forty marks. However, the friendship bond between us was

eroded. Up to date, we usually converse a little whenever we meet.

2. Withdrawal

Peter has been my good friend since childhood. However, he is egocentric and wants

everything moving in his direction. I remember one instance when we went out on a

hunting expedition. I was to hunt down a squirrel while he was to kill a wild rabbit.

However, hares were hard to catch due to their skillful and fast escapade. Peter got

irritated and requested me to help him. I knew if I turned him down, he would get

frustrated and opted to help him. However, we caught neither the wild rabbit nor the
squirrel. I felt a failure which I blamed on Peter. He got agitated and chose to stay away

from me. Since then, we hardly communicate.

3. Collaboration

My elder brother and I once went to cultivate portions of land. The area enormous and we

wanted the job completed as soon as possible. We agreed to cultivate one portion first

and move on to the second part. Working together motivated us, and soon we were

through. We also avoided a conflict in that, one completing first and failing to help the

other person would create tension between us.
