APPLICATION

Let’s see how we can apply this when reading the dictionary

While we are at it, try some exercises!

Kita ambil contoh perkataan CAR. Dalam phonetics, sebutan CAR akan ditulis sebegini:

/kʌr/

k = bunyi “k”

ʌ = bunyi “a”

r = bunyi “r”

Jadi gabungkan tiga simbol tersebut dan anda dapat sebutan bagi “CAR”. Cuba check sebutan
anda dengan perkataan CAR di https://dictionary.cambridge.org/

Anda boleh juga check sebutan perkataan-perkataan English yang lain dan juga simbol phonetics
mereka. Give it a try! 😊
Now, let’s see whether are you able to read the pronunciation for these words. Write the
words down.

/baɪsɪkəl/ ___________ /kənekt/ ___________

/haʊs/ ___________ /ɒntrəprənɜː/ ___________

/dɪtɜːmɪn/ ___________ /ʃiːp/ ___________

/kæriə/ ___________ /ʃɪp/ ___________

/dɪveləp/ ___________ /kjuːt/ ___________

Now try to write the pronunciation of YOUR NAME using phonetics!

Here’s mine:

/zækəraɪjʌ eɪdən drʌkmən tʃekgʊ zæk/

Now you try yours!
