Tower Magi.

In the aftermath of the War of the Lance the Wizards of High Sorcerery gained some modicum of respect
from the noble families of the world. Wizards were no longer shunned by the ranking members of
society and laws were altered in the lands to stop the persecution of the orders. Now I’m not saying that
the black robes are welcomed with open arms at Knightly feasts but a white robed wizard certainly
would be. The neutral wizards would be allowed food and drink but might perhaps have less freedoms
in the house as their white robed brethren.

The human magi who were running the order during the days leading up to and after the war have all
perished for obvious reasons. Dalamar the dark one-time apprentice to Rastlin Majere is now the
highest of the orders and his tower in Palanthus while dominated by the black order is evenly populated
by all. The highest tower room where the dragon portal resides is still closed and guarded eternally by
that spectral undead. Every year or so the remains of some kender or another are found at the bottom
of the stairs; the specter has learned that while he cannot frighten them, he can pick them up and drop
them down the shaft of the 200’ tower. When asked what was going on the spectral voice replied he
liked the splat sound they make followed by the funny tinkling sounds their bags of goods generally
make when they explode on contact with the stone floor. Dalamar has yet to learn how the kender get
into the tower at all as the grove is still protecting the structure. The houses on the street leading up to
the grove were removed by golems about 20 years ago. Leaving them up was a fire hazard and they had
been unable to be removed by mortal workers due to the aura of fear emanating from the grove. The
grove itself expanded another thirty yards after the homes were removed. Undead still patrol the
darkness but do not leave the trees. The rest of the cleared area is grassy and would be a nice park if it
wasn’t for the fear spell.

Palin Majere is the current head of the white robes and rules the tower of Wayreth. The magi there tend
to favor the white robes but like all of the towers all are accepted. They have set up a connection to the
government of the kingdom of Abanasinia and the current king has a red robed adviser. Being from
Solace the adviser is well liked and his apprentices run a small mage ware shop under his name just off
the town square. They have been known to procure magical items or even enchant the odd creation for
the locals. The fees involved for identification, procurement or enchantment are not small; but they can
be negotiated.

As there are only two towers the red robed magi have no set location, they call home. Their current
master is related to the red master during the war of the lance years. Josephine of house Justarius is
living in the family estate in the city of Palanthus. That is the nominal home of the red robes but that is
only as she allows it for the time being. Like her ancestor her acolytes run a mage ware shop out of the
store on the SW corner of the estate. As the red order is not required to live in Palanthus they are found
just about everywhere. In some respects, the red order has the greatest volume of recruits sense the
war. Many aspiring magi want to become the next Rastlin.

Mage ware shops are becoming more common in the post war years. Once where they could only be
found where magi held sway nearly every city has one. Palanthus actually has two; Dalamar’s tower
noticed that they could earn legal revenue by selling items. Most are run by mid-level magi who either
haven’t taken their tests yet or somehow managed to fail yet survive. Any commissions taken in are
actually still created at the most logical place for the type of magic required.
The moons of magic have a direct benefit to all magi on the face of Krynn; as each has a different orbit
the bonuses are always in flux.
Solinari the white has a 36-day rotation. Lunitari the red has a 28-day rotation. And Nuitari has an 8-day
rotation.

Each magi gains the benefits from their personal moon and added benefits from the other moons of
they are in conjunction. The effects are communitive.
Moon phase:
Waxing: +5 spell points.
High sanction: +10 spell points.
Waning: -5 spell points.
Low sanction: -10 spell points.
Alignment with the other moons:
Solinari with Lunitari: +5 spell points.
Nuitari with Lunitari: +5 spell points.
Solinari with Nuitari: no bonus.
night of the eye: +15 spell points. And if you are at a nexus or lay line the energy pool is 10x the standard
provided.

Yes: casters love the night of the eye. It is the most powerful night for ritual magic that the planet can
have.

Spell classes allowed to each order:

White robed wizards learn protection spells, & buffing spells, as well as offensive spells but offense is not
their primary goal in life.
Red robed wizards learn illusions, and buffing spells, as well as offensive spells but their primary goal is
to maintain the balance in the world.
Black robed wizards are not really concerned with nicety. They learn thaumaturgy, necromantic, and
offensive spells above protection spells.

I’m Not stating that things not listed may not be taken but they are subject to GM approval.

Any tower magi who takes new power at a later date gains two spells; and may also add a new trapping
to one existing spell. Applications and rituals are open to all tower trained magi.
