Sample Position Description

CONSIDERS “PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS” TO BE THE SAME AS MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS.

TITLE: Research Associate

DUTIES: Under general supervision of the Principal Investigators, this individual will assist in conducting
research on enhanced heat transfer with additively manufactured structures, structural health
monitoring (SHM), nondestructive evaluation (NDE) and Drop weight impact testing of
Laminated Composites. The duties of this position are to: (1) assist with laboratory research in
the analysis, design, construction and operation of additively manufactured microchannel.; (2)
perform analytical and finite element simulation to study the heat transfer enhancement in
modified microchannels with fins (3) assist in manufacturing thermoset and thermoplastic
laminated composite specimens (4) design and conduct controlled drop weight impact testing
experiments (5) collect and analyze data and prepare progress reports related to research and
contribute to scholarly works acceptable for presentation or publication; (6) interact and
coordinate efforts with undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral students in the same
research group;(7) contribute to developing contract and grant proposals ;and (8) Teach
undergraduate Mechanical class as assigned by the department.

REQUIREMENTS: The position requires a Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or a related
field with expertise in heat transfer, structural health monitoring (SHM), nondestructive
evaluation (NDE) and finite element analysis.
