Small punch test techniques has been used since 1980 primarily to evaluate the
degraded material strength under in-service component for irradiation application.
Reseracher so far have investigated the impact due to variation in geometry, process
& measurement and it’s well documented.
Reserachers has also extended the scope of SPT for strength evalaution of non-
irradiated materials and applications.
But still the scope exists to investigate the viability of traditional industrial materials
strength evalution using SPT for non-irradiated application.
Specific Objective :
• Investigate correlation to estimate the elasto-plastic stress-strain behavior
using SPT for Grey Cast Iron (Class-30) of non-irradiated application.
• Evaluate the fracture behavior. (Optional)
Conduct detailed numerical test plan on Grey cast iron with some
prominent variables
