Given the social tensions between Chinese mestizos and indios, why were indios willing to become a
Kasama of mestizos inquilinos?

We know that the Chinese mestizo acted as catalytic agents they have mostly held the reason why the
economy of the Philippines has increased, it was said that they were one of the most people that have
the money, they were feared by the Spaniards because they have the money a brain and has a close
relationship with the indios, while the indios have strengths in numbers and this is a threat to the
Spaniards. Indios were willing to become a kasama of mestizos inquilinos because the Chinese mestizo
has the power to help them and they know that if they joined forces they can fight against the Spanish
people because the Chinese mestizos were influential and it gave fear to the Spaniards. We could not
disagree that the Filipino nationality no matter how Malayan it may be in in its main ethnic stock, no
matter how Spanish and Christian it may be in its inspiration, civilization and religion, no matter how
American it may be in politics and trade, has been historically and practically shaped by the Chinese
mestizos. I think they were willing to be a kasama of mestizos inquilinos because they know that the
Chinese mestizos could have a really big impact to the creation and evolution of the Filipino nation and
that they could save us from the Spanish colonialism.
