Essay About Filipino Nationalism

Nationalism is a loyalty and devotion to the nation it’s a sense of the national consciousness
in which they exalting their country or nation above all other and placing emphasis on promotion
of it’s cultures and interest as opposed to those other nations. Filipino Nationalism is about
putting a fire to the spirit of the Filipinos and supporting towards our political identity associated
with modern Philippines leading to a wide-raging campaign for political, social, and economic
freedom in the Philippines. Filipino Nationalism has many stories in our Philippine history like
the revolution of the “katipunan” of Andres Bonifacio where because of his love and devotion for
the country he even gave his life fighting the Spaniards for our freedom another is the most
famous idolized national hero Dr. Jose Protacio Rizal Mercado Y Alonzo Realonda or Jose Rizal
in short who wrote the Noli Me Tangere and El Filibustirismo that give a treat to the friars and
hope and the one that put fires to the Nationalism of the Filipinos and specially to Andres
Bonifacio that open to his eyes to reality about the abused of power of the friars and Spaniard's.
Not only Bonifacio and Rizal we also have other national heroes who shows nationalism for the
sovereignty of our country we have Tandang Sora who gave aid to the “katipuneros” another is
Juan Luna who paint spolarium and one of the member of Propaganda the Laliga Filipina who
was founded by Rizal and other propagandist we also have Apolinario Mabini, who was the
Brain or “Utak” ng katipuna and also know as “Ang Dakilang lumpo” that despite of his illness he
gave his all of his strength that left to fight for the sovereignty of our country. We also have
national hero who show nationalism for the country during Filipino and American war who was
lead General Antonio Luna against to the American lead by General Douglas Mac Arthur.
Based to what I learn and to my prior knowledge about the history I see that during 19 th century
to show your nationalism for country they need to write, gave aid, support revolution or to fight
the colonizers to show the nationalism for your country unlike in 21 st century nowadays we don’t
need to go to war to become nationalism, we can just show our nationalism for our country by
respecting our national flag and national anthem, be a productive citizen, be proud to the
achievement of our country, use our national language, preserve our culture, be aware to the
latest issues in our country and most of all never forget the sacrifices of our national heroes.
As the next generation we must not forget what is the true meaning of nationalism because we
are the hope of the future we are the one who will continue what they started and we are the
one who will pass the story of bravery, heroism of our national heroes who fight for our freedom,
to the next generation so that the story of nationalism of our heroes will continue and never died
and the spirit of the loyalty, devotion, love for our country will never forget.
