Media Summit Theme to Honor First Amendment
A View into the Theme of the 2020 Summit
OSWEGO, NY, (October 5, 2020) –The theme for the 2020 Dr. Lewis B. O’Donnell
Media Summit has been revealed as “On the Frontline with the First Amendment.” The event
will be a testament to the media professionals who have exercised their rights to freedom of the
press and freedom of speech.
Main panelists will convey their wisdom and expertise to students along with discussing
recent events that have great impact on today’s media landscape. Mikayla Green, Co-Director of
the event alongside Benjamin Grieco, says the panelists will discuss a number of major events
that have occurred this year and their relationship to the media, such as the COVID-19
pandemic, the Black Lives Matters movement, and the 2020 Presidential Election.
“With what has happened in 2020, we felt it was necessary to give equal attention to all
three monumental situations. We hope this will not only help students who are communications
majors but shed light to those outside of the media realm about what actually goes on behind the
scenes.”
Held virtually on October 28, this year’s Summit will a tribute to those who have with
firsthand experience with the trials and tribulations of working in media the past year. The event
will host a main panel of media professionals and several Oswego alumni in communication
fields that will return to take part in the Career Connectors networking event.
