EGE WATER Washing: AT PORT OR ANCHORAGE

1) Boiler Water Circ pump stopped At MSB after sufficient cooling down of EGE
2) Open EGE top door (fwd) at the level of Water washer 1,2,3,4 & another at the
level of 5,6
3) Open Port side 2 doors at the bottom
4) Open dust catcher Manhole door
5) Open FW tk outlet v/v to EGE WW pump, open pump suction & disch v/v
6) Open Main water inlet v/v near EGE, confirm water line drain v/v close
7) Remove EGE Manometer connection top-bottom & screw in Plugs
8) Changeover Spectacles blank at the water drain line near Water collect tank
9) Pour some water at the drain line at the dust catcher – confirm water draining
freely to the drain tank
10) Mark FW tk level & Start EGE ww pump, start washing starting with
No.1
11) One by one wash with Water washer, slowly moving the washer
clockwise-anticlockwise each for 10 min.
12) After finishing 1,2 ….6 one cycle stop for a while to see the result
13) If necessary do some hose down through the top door at the corners or as
necessary
14) Mark the FW tk level & do one more cycle of wash – operating each
washer for approx 5~10 min.
15) After finishing the 2nd cycle hose down through the top door, & bottom
door at the level of SH header.
16) Through the whole washing one person must be constantly watching at
the dust catcher manhole and washing fallen soot on & off with water hose to
keep the drain line clear for free flow of water all the time
17) Start Boiler water Circ pump & watch the HP drum pressure, pressure
will fall down in a steep curve, so stop pump & wait for a while to raise the
pressure (HP Drum simmering coil will be fully opened)
18) When pump is running lots of soot will start falling in the dust catcher,
frequent washing will be necessary
19) EGE wash water is highly corrosive, pH 2.0, so caustic soda flakes
should be added to the wash-water tank during the washing time
20) For 5000 L of water in the tank 10 kg flake should be added as a thumb
rule to neutralize the acidity
a. Water consumption: 30-40 m3
b. Caustic Soda Flake : 50~ 75 kg
